Another year has literally flown by, at the blink of an eye! It for me, has been the most enriching year in terms of my personal as well as professional life and I’ve learned so much more about me through these experiences. Change is the only constant and I am all set to start 2018 with some positive ones! Being the realist that I am, I have penned down 12 goals, one for each month, to conquer and then continue, and hopefully I will be able to pull through!

 

 1. Get in my best shape ever

Now this is not for shallow, superficial reasons. In a perfect world, we’d all want to look our best at any given point of time and more so, if you’re someone who ends up being photographed at least twice a week! Yet, my reasons are different. My health is something that I have decided to devote sufficient amount of time to! Be it squeezing in that quick workout or spending those couple of extra hours a day for cooking healthy meals. I feel like change begins from these minor shifts and by the end of this year, I want to be able to have achieved that balance! In the process, if I manage to lose some kilos, that’s always a plus! No?

 

2. Read More

This is something I used to enjoy doing immensely. Reading transfers you to a completely different frame of mind and it saddens me that as life has changed, I haven’t been able to indulge more in this activity. So this year, just like my list of 12 resolutions, I intend to read at least 12 good books, so if you guys have some recommendations, please do leave them in the comments below!

 

3. Write More

Getting my website redone was a goal I wanted to conquer in 2017 and I am so glad to have made this change happen! Starting today, I intend to put up at least 2 blogs a week, be it videos, travel blogs, reviews or personal agendas, there will be two new reads for you every week! I would like to believe that Tuesdays & Thursdays is when I’d like to publish them, but I’m not going to let that hinder my goal. If you guys want me to write about something specific, feel free to let me know.

 

4. Take up a Hobby & Follow Through

Learning to play a musical instrument or following through on that close to my heart business plan, my daily routines leave me no time to focus on either! So this year, I’ve decided to set aside at least 1 day in a week, to focus on these goals and slowly but steadily make some progress. Not only will this satiate that inner urge but it will also shift my focus from the mundane.

 

5.  Travel to at least 3 places on my Bucket List

2017 for me, has by far been the best when it comes to travel! We were able to travel almost once every month and that has probably been the most I have explored in several years put together. And although I have been able to strike off some of the locations off my bucket list, I’d like to strike off at least 3 more this year! London, Paris, Norway, Prague, South Africa, Rome, revisiting Santorini with Smaran are some of the top targets. Let’s see which of these we’re able to accomplish this year.

 

6.  Spend more time with Friends & Family

I don’t necessarily suck at this but I’m quite the nester. So if I have some free time, I’m always in two minds of whether to make that attempt to catch up with loved ones or my lost soul! More often than not its the latter but this year, I want to consciously change that! Be it fixing a day in a week to visit my parents and in-laws, be it going out of my way to make it to that bestie dinner or even planning a small vacation with them! I am all set to find that work-life balance! I’m sure my Mum is grinning from ear to ear while reading this!

 

7.  Work Harder, Save More

You guys know that saving is something I’ve always been a supporter of! I’ve written blogs in the past to introduce you to easy ways of doing it and many of you have enjoyed reading and implementing them! I have also always been someone who believes, that there are literally no short cuts to success. Working hard is the only way that paves the path for it and I aim to keep that a constant. However, I do tend to focus on slightly more bigger goals for my future and start saving up a little more than I have been so far. That may mean, giving up that luxury hand bag purchase or delaying that coveted holiday, but it’ll all be worth it because I know it’ll be for greater good!

 

8. Downsize my wardrobe and make up collection

Now this one is going to be very hard for a hoarder like me! At this given point, I own over 250 lipsticks and 60 jackets. Do I use all? Umm, no. Do I need all? Definitely, not! So then why let it occupy precious space?! Given my profession I am often sent a lot of make up products which I do distribute within my friends and family but even after that, I am left with a huge chunk. It’s a part of my job to try out new things to give you guys an update but I do intend on slowly down sizing my collection! Same goes for clothes, if I haven’t worn it in 2 months, I probably won’t ever, so get ready to see a lot more updates on my Spoyl account!

 

9. Love More, Hate Less

Our lives are surrounded by constant updates from friends, family, bloggers, celebrities, etc. It would be ideal to browse through it all and not compare those lives to your own. However, given our human nature, that’s almost impossible. I know so many people who themselves have such amazing lives and yet they sit there in different countries going through my mundane Insta stories! I want to stop doing that. I want to stop letting other people define the way I’d feel and focus more on myself & more importantly love myself. I’ve found that is the only way to love more, hate less. Not like it’s a consolation, but I’ve also understood that no one’s life is perfect. Life has a way of balancing it all out, so what may seem like a perfect life on your mobile screen, is probably just as flawed as yours.

 

10. Not make the Internet my life

This is kind of a continuation of the previous point. I did notice that a lot of my time was being spent on aimlessly browsing through Instagram feeds or watching mundane YouTube videos when I could possibly be spending that time on resolutions 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6! Being a blogger this may sound derogatory but for me, I don’t think I’ve ever promoted the idea of constantly being online. I’ve always encouraged all to step out and make more of one self! So be it sharing my cooking on Insta stories or my workout snippets, the aim is to encourage you to get inspired and hopefully imbibe it!

 

11. Stick to the No Dairy Rule more stringently

If you read my blog about PCOS, you know that I have been off dairy for a few months now. What started of with solely health reasons, has now gone on to becoming a lifestyle change. I noticed several changes in myself while being off it and for those reasons, I’d like to stick with it. I have been following it a bit more leniently then ideal, so this year I am going to attempt to follow this a bit more stringently. Wish me luck!

 

12. Learn to lose control

No I don’t mean this in a party all night or shop till you drop way! I recently read some where,

“Don’t be afraid to go where you’ve never been and do what you’ve never done, because both are necessary to have what you’ve never had and be who you’ve never been!”

 I am not a control freak but I do plan things in advance. My finances, my routines, goals I need to accomplish (like this list of resolutions) which does keep me focused but I feel it also leaves very little room for the Universe to show me it’s magic tricks! So this year, I am going to get comfortable with the idea of  letting life lead me instead of the other way around and follow my heart and instincts down new paths. Where it takes me, will be up on this very website for you to witness! <3
